The World Cadets Chess Championship, organised by FIDE, take place between the 3rd and 16th November 2018 in North West Spain in the City of Santiago.
Lancashire Lass Niamh Bridgeman from Morecambe Chess Club has been selected to play in the Under 12 Girls event. This is a prestigious junior chess event, and we would like to congratulate Niamh on her selection and wish her the very best of luck in November.
Like all these events, they come with a financial cost and substantial pressure on parents. To help Niamh in her quest, a crowdfunding page has been set up to help get Niamh over to Spain representing Lancashire.
Niamh is one of Lancashire’s brightest chess stars. In July this year, she competed in the Glorney Cup in Glasgow as a member of England Under 12 Junior Team. England competed against teams from the Netherlands, France, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Niamh won the team’s best performance medal with an undefeated 4.5/5 points.
Every little bit helps if you can forego a pint of beer and help Niamh with her dream, then pop over to this page to donate the cost of your pint (or two) for Niamh!
